Barry’s Pawn and Jewelry in Boca Raton isn’t your average pawn shop. We are a locally owned and operated family business. And that’s the way it’s been for three generations. 

Boca Raton has changed a lot since we first opened our doors, but one thing hasn’t changed – our commitment to you. We understand how important small businesses like ours are to the local economy. 

We also understand how challenging this year has been for small businesses all across this country. We consider ourselves to be very fortunate, but we know that there are many small businesses in our community that are struggling to survive. We hope you will join with us in supporting them.

There are a lot of things you can do to help:

• Not feeling comfortable going to the hair salon or yoga studio yet? Why not buy a gift certificate to help them keep the doors open.
• Worried about the risk of contracting Covid-19 in a restaurant? Order takeout! Many of the wonderful restaurants in Boca Raton offer curbside pickup. Or you can save yourself a trip and have your order delivered.
• If you are active on social media, give a shoutout to your favorite boutiques or service providers. You can also leave positive reviews online. 

NBC shared some other ideas on ways to help small businesses affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Among other things, they had a great twist on the gift card idea: “Buy a $10 gift card for a friend — and encourage them to buy for someone else.”

“Purchasing gift cards is a great idea for businesses that you are going to use anyway,” Dennis Shirshikov, an economic analyst at Fit Small Business, told them in an interview. “It gives [businesses] like salons and yoga studios some cash to support employees and reassures them that they will still have customers.”
