MARK OF GALT & BROTHER, WASHINGTON, D.C., CIRCA 1899,
Of tapering form with flared top & spreading base, both heavily chased, the top additionally pierced with roses, the centre applied with ribbon-tied rose swags, inscribed above foot “To Mr. & Mrs. J. Milne Barbour, on the occasion of their marriage, June 1st., 1899, from The Vice President of the United States of America and Mrs. Garret A. Hobart”, the other side engraved with crest of Barbour, 18 in. high (46 cm.), 50.4 ozt.
